IWAENC 2024

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Jax and part of his team attended the 18th International Workshop on Acoustic Signal Enhancement (IWAENC 2024), which took place from September 9 to 12 at the Music House (Musikkens Hus) in Aalborg, Denmark.

This year, the event offered a comprehensive program featuring workshops, lectures, and interactive sessions showcasing the latest developments in acoustic signal processing, microphone array technologies, and machine learning.

Prof. Jax and his team presented their current research projects through posters and presentations, which attracted significant interest and sparked lively discussions. The presented work included new algorithms for improving speech intelligibility in noisy environments and innovative approaches to reducing echoes and distortions in speech transmission systems:

  • Erik Fleischhauer, Sebastian Nagel | Binaural Direction-of-Arrival Estimation Incorporating Head Movement Information
  • Till Hardenbicker | Online System Identification on Learned Acoustic Manifolds using an Extended Kalman Filter
  • Florian Hilgemann | Low-Order Controllers for Active Noise Cancellation Based on Hankel Matrix Rank Minimization
  • Christoph Weyer | Analysis of Earbud-Mounted Bone-Conduction Microphones

The participants were able to establish valuable contacts and draw inspiration from the latest research
