Best Student Thesis Awards 2014 for Stefan Kühl und Florian Wickert
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary colloquium of the Institute of Communication Systems and Data Processing on July 25, 2014 Stefan Kühl and Florian Wickert received the best student thesis awards 2014 for the bachelor thesis "Transformation Based NLMS Algorithm with Perfect Sequence Excitation" and the master thesis "Design and Analysis of Low-Density Parity-Check Codes with Flexible Block Length", respectively.
In diesem Jahr besteht das Institut für Nachrichtengeräte und Datenverarbeitung 50 Jahre. Das heutige Festkolloquium gab exemplarisch Einblicke in die Technik- und Technologie-Entwicklung im Bereich der digitalen Sprach-Audio-Kommunikation.

During an excursion from 10.06.2014 to 13.06.2014, 19 students and employees of the IND visited the companies Rohde & Schwarz, BMW und Qualcomm in Munich and Nuremberg.
ND Weather Station Goes Online
As part of a thesis, a weather station was set up to verify the quality of weather forecast data freely available in the internet.
Students were invited as part of the consultation days at the RWTH Aachen to attend a lecture at the Institute.

Dipl.-Ing. Bastian Sauert presented on 10th January 2014 at the 6th Workshop on Speech in Noise in Marseille, France, an invited talk entitled "Near-End listening enhancement for mobile phones".
