At the end of the summer term, the annual GfK-meeting was held, as every year. Due to the corona pandemic and the associated restrictions, interested members met virtually in a zoom room.
PHD Exam of Dr.-Ing. Stefan Liebich
Dr.-Ing. Stefan Liebich has successfully completed his oral PHD examination. Dr. Liebich gave an overview of his work about:
"Active Noise and Occlusion Effect Cancellation in Headphones and Hearing Aids"
At this year's ICASSP Johannes Fabry presented his contribution "Primary path estimator based on individual secondary path for ANC headphones", while Maximilan Kentgens gave a talk on "Translation of a Higher Order Ambisonics Sound Sceme Based on Parametric Decomposition".
IKS and Analog Devices to Showcase AOC at ISE
The Institute of Communication Systems (IKS) and Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), a leading global high performance analog technology company, unveiled the world’s first implementation of RWTH’s Active Occlusion Cancelation technologies for earbuds, headphones, hearing aids and hearables.
In Januaryr, the Institute of Communication Systems organized two events for pupils.
IKS|MATLAB meets LEGO Mindstorms
During the annual first semester project "MATLAB meets LEGO Mindstorms" many creative LEGO robots have been designed in the last two weeks at IKS.
Doctoral Examination of Dr.-Ing. Tim Schmitz
Dr.-Ing. Tim Schmitz has successfully completed his oral doctoral examination on December 17th. Already on Friday, 13 December 2019, Dr. Schmitz reported on his work in a 45-minute presentation with the title:
"Continuous-Amplitude Error Protection of Discrete-Time Signals"
In a long tradition, the IKS team celebrated the end of the year together with the students. With hot drinks, waffles and grilled food all culinary wishes could be fulfilled.
150 Years of RWTH | PNZ Annual Calendar with IKS Patent
The Patent and Standards Centre celebrates the 150th anniversary of the RWTH with 12 Aachen patents selected from the "Patent of the Month" (PdM) series. For more than ten years, this format has been used to draw attention to outstanding, historically significant and sometimes bizarre patents as well as to the importance of industrial property rights.
AES 147 in New York and WASPAA 2019 in New Paltz
In October, our doctoral researcher Tobias Kabzinski and Stefan Kühl joined the 147th Audio Engineering Society Convention. Mr. Kabzinski presented his poster on "An Adaptive Crosstalk Cancellation System Using Microphones at the Ears" in a session on spatial audio.
